Rational:

Influenza (flu) is a common, contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses, and may result in serious complications or death [1]. Vaccination has been shown to reduce flu-related hospitalizations by up to 71% [2]. Seasonal influenza vaccination is recommended by the Israeli Ministry of Health for all individuals (above the age of 6 months), and in particular for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions, including asthma, as Influenza contributes to asthma exacerbations. [3].

Numerator:

Individuals in the denominator who received a seasonal influenza vaccination (September 1st to February 28th)

Denominator

Individuals with persistent asthma aged 5-45
