Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease that affects about 10% of adults in Israel. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to damage to target organs (especially kidney function, eyes, and feet). QICH measures: the prevalence rate of diabetes mellitus, hemoglobin A1c testing and control; monitoring diabetes complications (periodic performance of eye examinations, kidney function tests and treatment of renal impairment); as well as indicators of common diabetes co-morbidities (blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and body weight). An imbalance in these parameters is more common in diabetics than in the rest of the population, and act as risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
